At Maran Timber, we actively invest in the responsible management of our forest resources, including our FSC®-certified natural forest concession. Our approach focuses on sustainable harvesting, long-term forest regeneration, and biodiversity preservation, guided by FSC principles for responsible forest management.

We work closely with relevant authorities and NGOs to implement reduced-impact logging practices, support wildlife monitoring initiatives, and ensure our operations align with environmental protection requirements within production forests.

We prioritise certified and traceable raw materials, while continuously improving production efficiency to maximise yield and reduce waste. Through our Noawood program, we promote the use of lesser-known Malaysian hardwood species, supporting better forest utilisation and reducing pressure on traditional commercial species.

In addition, our product innovation—such as thermally modified wood—enhances durability and extends product lifespan, reducing reliance on chemical treatments and supporting more sustainable material use across applications.

for a better future

Energy management is central to Maran Timber’s commitment to reducing environmental impact. In 2014, we became one of the first timber companies in Malaysia to deploy solar energy generation, with an installed capacity of 1.3 MW and ongoing expansion plans.

We have transitioned the majority of our operations to battery-powered forklifts and continue to invest in automation and energy-efficient systems to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

Our carbon reduction efforts extend across the entire value chain. Through our Malaysian hardwood program, including Noawood, we promote locally sourced timber to minimise transportation emissions while supporting regional supply chains.

By combining responsible sourcing, efficient production, and long-lasting products, we contribute to lower carbon footprint and extended carbon storage throughout the product lifecycle.

We continuously improve material recovery rates and log-to-product yield efficiency, maximising the utilisation of every log. Wood residues generated during processing are repurposed for energy use where possible, reducing waste and improving resource efficiency. In addition, our thermal modification process enhances durability without the use of chemicals, supporting safer and more sustainable material applications.
